About
Engineering meets
entrepreneurship
I'm Nick Merrill — an electrical engineer by training who discovered that building businesses is just another form of systems design. My career started on the factory floor: programming PLCs, designing controls systems, and building HMI interfaces for metal recycling centers using RSLogix 5000.
That hands-on foundation became the launchpad for everything that followed. I founded 2M Electrical Reps in 2012, joined Power Busway as a partner in 2018 and helped drive it from $5M to over $200M in annual sales, launched Heye Power Consultants in 2023 to consult on high-current ampacity systems, and in 2025 created Heyelab as an incubator for the next generation of projects.
My edge comes from two things: deep electro-mechanical expertise — I'm a 10x engineer when it comes to power systems — and an unwavering belief in the power of relationships. The network effect is real, and I've built my career on it.

Philosophy
Two multipliers
10x Engineering
Deep, first-principles expertise in electro-mechanical and high-current power systems. Not just understanding the theory — having built, commissioned, and troubleshot these systems on factory floors and in data centers. This technical depth is rare and it compounds.
The Network Effect
Relationships built on trust, competence, and genuine value creation. The network effect is extremely powerful — every strong relationship opens doors to ten more. I invest in people first and the business follows. This is how you go from $5M to $200M.
Core Tenets
Income Follows the Work
If you work hard consistently, in the same or related industries, with the same people — you will succeed if through nothing else than iteration alone. Naval Ravikant says to play iterated games with iterated people. It has been my experience that this is a universal truth and the surest path to success. Every venture I've built proves it: the same relationships, the same industries, the same commitment to excellence — compounding over 14+ years.
Relationships Matter
In today's workforce, we're heavily reliant on digital communication. But a personal presence is so much more powerful. Body language, camaraderie, the unspoken understanding that comes from being in a room together — a high level of communication is completely nonverbal. Fostering strong relationships with the people you work with and depend on for success isn't optional. It's a must. Every major deal, every partnership, every breakthrough in my career came from a relationship built face to face.
Honesty, Integrity, Morals
Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered. Show returns for your partners in advance — knowing you've got years to recoup — and then watch the returns flow in. Do the right thing. It seems simple in practice, but when faced with challenges at work or opportunities that might stress a relationship, always take the high road. I'm a student of game theory and the prisoner's dilemma, and I integrate this as a core part of my decision-making: cooperate first, play fair, and optimize for the long game. The people who cut corners win once. The people who play with integrity win forever.

Years of involvement
I discovered Bitcoin in 2011 — early enough to watch the entire ecosystem take shape from the ground up. Within a year I was mining, running hardware and diving deep into how the protocol actually works. What started as curiosity from an electrical engineer who understood computation and energy became a conviction that has only deepened with time.
Bitcoin resonates with the same first-principles thinking I apply to power systems: it's a protocol built on physics and math, not trust in institutions. The proof-of-work mechanism — converting energy into immutable history — is elegant engineering. The fixed supply schedule is predictable in a way that no central bank policy ever can be.
Over 15 years I've watched Bitcoin survive every imaginable attack — technical, regulatory, and narrative. Each cycle, the fundamentals get stronger. I remain deeply involved in the space: following development, holding convictions, and watching the network effect compound exactly the way I've seen it work in business.
